Kevin Trantham takes 4x4 Lites Class win in the morning race at Steele Creek in Morganton, NC
Hot Springs, NC 4/6/2013- Lazer Star Lights' Can-Am X-Team racer Kevin Trantham takes the class win at Steele Creek in Morganton, NC.
We were glad to be at our home track in North Carolina with the familiar terrain including the creek crossing and some great hills. GNCC added a new mud hole and then a culvert to pass through after crossing under the bridge. Things looked interesting, Trantham said.
I was excited to line up and put the Can-Am / BRP/ Ron Woods bike in contention. We got a decent start in 2nd going into the woods. We were able to take the lead about 4 miles in on the first lap. The bike was handling great. About halfway through the last lap we encountered electrical problems that took out the power steering along with some other steering issues. We continued to push toward the finish and were able to take another class victory. We were a little short for the podium, but, got some good points with the class win, Trantham said. We are back in the shop making repairs and getting ready for the next round. GNCC is heading to South Carolinas Big Buck on April 20th and 21st. Hope to see you there.
Trantham Racing would like to thank all our sponsors for the 2013 race season: Can-Am/BRP, Kenda Tires, Custom Axis, Ron Wood Racing, Amsoil, Moose Racing, Hiper Wheels, Fasst Co., Spider Grips, Rox SpeedFX, All Balls Racing, Evans Coolant, Ricochet, East Tennessee ATV, Derisi Racing, Twin Air, DP Brakes, SSI Decals, TireBalls, HRP Sports, Leatt, Lazer Star, Outerwears, MPR Racing, Phillips Racing, and Team UXC Racing. How to Install 24-inch Lazer Star Lights Combi Beam

In this video we will show you how easy it is to install a 24-inch combi-beam on this Jeep Rubicon's AEV brackets. Start by inserting the mounting posts into the slide track receiver, and adjust them to the proper width. Mount the posts into the bracket holes, and then loosely screw in the bolts. Adjust to the desired angle, and then finish tightening the bolts. Attach a wire loom to the Deutsch connectors on the light, and feed through your grill to the fuse relay. Crimp on the mating connectors at the end of the loom, and then fasten the loom to the respective slots on your fuse relay. And then: Boom. Flick the switch and get 12,000 lumens of light at your fingertips. Here is David Hamilton with a few words on his Lazer Star Experience.

Following his win, he spent 30 minutes icing his back after pulling muscles while lifting his quad. Congratulations, Bryan!!

Lazer Star Lights will be on site as the Official Lighting Sponsor for the 2013 Heartland Challenge
Paso Robles, Calif. March 5th, 2013 Lazer Star Lights is proud to announce their 2nd year as Official Lighting Sponsor for 2013 Heartland Challenge Endurance Race. Lazer Star Lights will be the official lighting sponsor for the 6th Annual 2013 Heartland Challenge in Carlisle, Iowa. Regarded as one of the most premier night time endurance races in North America, the Heartland Challenge is a 10 hour cross-country race, ran entirely in the dark for both ATV's and UTV's. The event hosts classes for all skill levels, from Pro 4x4 Ironman, Women's, +40, to a 3 hour challenge for Youth ATV riders. Twenty minute lap times around the diverse Iowa course attests to its ironman reputation. Sandy rutted sections through the woods, wide open climbs, tricky off-cambers, and night time conditions make conditioning and equipment vital. Watch a lap from the 2011 course here. Add the August Iowa humidity and 10 hours of racing, you have yourself an ironman. Lazer Star Lights will be onsite all weekend at Heartland showcasing their top of the line LED light bars used by Can-Am's Factory Race Teams. "Having your lighting set-up dialed before Heartland is critical," says five time GNCC 4x4 Open champion Bryan Buckhannon. "It's no fun playing brail on an ironman course at night. When you're 7 hours into the race navigating through the forest at night, having a proper race lighting set-up makes all the difference." Want to see the LED light bars Bryan and the rest of the factory Can-Am teams run on their ATVs and UTVs? Visit the Lazer Star Lights trailer at the Heartland Challenge, August 15th-17th 2013 to see how the lights perform in race conditions.About Lazer Star Lights The company is an innovator in the automotive and power sports aftermarket off-road lighting industry. Second lap around Buck's machine lost its power steering, however Bryan still captured 1st overall in the 4x4 Open class, manhandling his ATV through rough Floridan sand sections. Bryan brought home 4x4 open win maintaining 2nd overall of all the sport utilities. Buckhannon wrapped up River Ranch with a 4th place overall finish of the entire morning class. The General, Washington, GA - Northward in the southern states Round 2 took place at The General in Washington, GA. Despite the electrical difficulties, Bryan won the 4x4 open class, placed 3rd in utility, and 6th overall of the morning riders. The first round of UTV racing kicked off at the General. In the XC1 class drivers Nick Stafford and Bryan Buckhannon managed a poor start on row 4, however steadily picked off drivers through the woods aboard their Can-Am Maverick. 3 of Lazer Star / Ca-Am 4x4 factory teams take the podium last weekend at GNCC Round #5 at Mammoth, Park City, KY
Park City, KY - Weather conditions weren't ideal in South Central Kentucky as mud and rain plagued the land on Saturday at Round 5 of the 2013 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series in Park City, Ky. Lazer Star Lights would like to recognize 3 of our Factory Can-Am teams and their podium wins last weekend. Bryan Buckhannon took the 1st place win and dominates the 4x4 Open class, 5 - 0 coming out of race 5. Up next in the 4x4 Lites we saw Kevin Trantham come in 1st in class yet again with a 4 - 5 out of Kentucky, last but certainly not least is the 4x4 Senior division with Forrest Wharton taking 2nd in class to maintain his 1st overall standing, not a bad wrap up coming out of wet and muddy Mammoth for round #5!
Great Job! Goes out to all the athletes that braved the harsh conditions and finished the race last weekend. Looking forward to a hopefully dryer and warmer Round #6 out at the Dunlop Limestone 100 in Springville, May 18 - 19, 2013.

Thought I would post this here and introduce myself. I ride in the South Seattle area. We have tons of bitchin mountians and killer ORV parks to ride on. But Seattle is dark 7 months out of the year which makes riding even during the daytime a challenge. I have a 2008 Yamaha WR250X. Anyway, I've never been much of a night rider (thats not a David Hasselhoff joke, but it could be!). Hey I'm 40 years old. Eyesight is the first to go. Lights usually suck hard on any WR and enduros/supermotos in general. Anyway....so I've been looking at LED lights. Theres a bunch of junk on the market and I wanted something that would last and will put out some decent power. I looked at just about every kit on the market. Nothing quite had the look, quality and end result I wanted. I found a little powersports company out of Paso Robles, CA that makes LED headlights and turn signals for Harleys. Turns out they also make some bad ass lights for trucks. I found a really killer light thats the right size to fit in the factory plastic. Here are the specifics; Lazer Star - Triad 10 watt 3000 lumens - the stock headlight H4 bulb puts out like 1500 lumens at best. IP68 rated - which means dirt and water wont get into it. Which is a HUGE problem with most led lighting and around my wet neck of the woods... Lazer Star "underdrives" all their lights so they last a long time and still put out a ton of light with their reflector. This also means they run cool, so they wont melt the crap out of the plastics. Being under driven, they dont draw alot of power so the bike can handle it no problem. I've only had the light on for a few weeks. The temps here have been getting cold at night (low 20s) and its been a little too cold to ride very far. This light is BRIGHT! I've had LEDs on my truck and knew what to expect, but it was awesome to see it on my WR. I made a little youtube video of the install. http://youtu.be/E8_3Ql4K2Ig A link to the blog site: http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/1002394-lazer-star-led-headlight-for-yamaha-supermoto/Lazer Star Lights / Team CAN-AM Sweep at GNCC in Ohio

The Maverick 1000R worked awesome. I knew the speed and ability was there, we just needed some luck and we got it. I know that this will be the first of more wins,” said Chaney. “My setup is dialed in, so I am not changing anything heading into the Masontown GNCC.”
Can-Am drivers earned six of the top 10 UTV XC1 Modified class finishes. JB Off-Road’s Tim Farr and co-pilot Julie Farr earned sixth place in Ohio. Team Zakowski Motorsports’ Zac Zakowski edged Louis Powersports / Can-Am X-Team racer Cody Miller for seventh. Larry Hendershot (Team HP/ NC 44) was ninth ahead of Team NC Powersports’ Stuart Weeks.

Chris Gray and David Jessee made it an all-Can-Am podium, earning second and third. Chad Moret, who won his first race of 2013, and Ryan Smith went 1-2 in the 4×4 Novice class on their Can-Am ATVs.
JB Off-Road / Can-Am DS 450™ Pro Jarrod McClure finished 11th in the XC1 ATV Pro class and 25th overall. He’s currently ranked eighth in the class points race.

Lazer Star Lights' Team Murray Races to San Felipe Podium
Lazer Star Lights sponsored driver Derek Murray piloted his Team Murray Racing Can-Am Maverick to a 2nd place podium finish at the 28th Annual Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 this past weekend.
With championship hopes high, Team Murray pulled their Lazer Star Lights equipped Can-Am Maverick to the line to kick off the 2014 SCORE World Desert Championship. The course would take racers in a 219-mile loop through Baja Mexico, starting and finishing in the coastal town of San Felipe. The UTV start was pushed back a couple of hours, a factor that would actually play in Team Murrays favor later in the race. Team Murray ran with the leaders early on, but dropped back to mid-pack with a mechanical problem. After fixing the issue it was time to make up ground, and as the sun went down and conditions worsened their Lazer Star Lights gave them an edge over the competition. A lighting setup like ours is a big confidence boost, which alone goes a long way when racing, said Derek Murray. At night, in the roughest section of the course, we were able to close down and make up some positions thanks in large part to our Lazer Star Lights. As competitors slowed down late in the race, Team Murray cut through the pack and returned to town with a 2nd place finish. They joined fellow Can-Am pilot Marc Burnett on the podium, who notched the first SCORE series victory and Baja win for Can-Am. Team Murray, comprised of Derek Murray, Steve Amarine and Monty Aldrich, was without Jason Murray, who is recovering from finger surgery following an incident at King of the Hammers. He is undergoing physical therapy and hopes to return to racing later this year. The team is already busy preparing for The Great American Off-Road Race, the Best in the Desert Mint 400. Lazer Star Lights will be represented in the Mint 400 by Matt Lovell and Paul Baker in the Lazer Star Lights/Matt Lovell Racing #7244 mid-sized trophy truck. Lazer Star Lights Takes on the Mint 400
Lazer Star Lights rolled into Las Vegas, NV last week ready to take on the legendary Mint 400. This years Great American Off-Road Race, now a part of the Best in the Desert Racing Series, saw an incredibly high attrition rate as the 100-mile loop that began the day as a race course transformed into a wasteland of carnage with each passing vehicle.
Lazer Star Lights was set up in contingency for pre-race festivities. Murray Racing As the sun came up Saturday morning, more than 50 UTVs crawled to the start line ready to tackle two laps on the 100-mile course. Derek Murray and his co-driver Monty Aldrich started out in 31st place in their Lazer Star equipped Can-Am Maverick. Over the course of the next 100+ miles, they fought their way up through the pack, making use of their bumper-mounted Lazer Star red and blue LED light bar and 50 roof-mounted bar in the process.
Murray Racing put their Lazer Star Lights to use at Mint. UTVs are noisy machines, and a lot of times drivers cant hear other cars coming up behind them, Derek said after the race. We couldnt afford to get stuck behind people and lose time, so a flick of our Lazer Star Lights would warn drivers up ahead and help us make passes.
Derek Murray and co-driver Monty Aldrich finished 5th in the UTV race. The technique worked, as Murray and Aldrich worked up to as high as 2nd place at one point, despite losing their brakes on the first lap. With about 40 miles to go Team Murray lost a belt, dropping them back to 7th place as they made some quick repairs. Murray managed to get two of those spots back, crossing the line in 5th place. Matt Lovell Racing With the morning races out of the way it was time for the trophy trucks to hit the course in the afternoon. Matt Lovell was coming off a disappointing run in the Parker 425, where mechanical issues forced him out of the race. After several weeks of repairs, testing and preparation, Matt set his strategy in motion. Without the luxury of a pre-running weekend, Lovell would use the first lap as a chance to feel out the course before charging ahead. While swapping places with fellow 7200-class competitors it became immediately evident that the course was in rough shape, with double-track ruts so deep they were nearly impassible on his 35 tires.
Matt Lovell pushed the Lazer Star Lights #7244 truck through the rough Mint course. Ruts were not the only obstacles among the desert terrain. Rocks ranging from baseball to boulder sized littered the course, taking out trucks left and right. The Lazer Star Lights / Matt Lovell Racing #7244 truck took a beating, at one point suffering a radiator leak due to debris. Matt and his co-pilot Paul Baker managed to repair the leak, but the MLR crew had to replace the radiator in the pit.
Matt and his crew worked through some mechanical issues throughout the race. At this point we were losing light and we were excited to use our Lazer Star Light setup to charge hard and make up some ground, Lovell reported. As they headed towards the main pit to finish up the second lap, however, they sprung another radiator leak. The crew fixed it in the pit and the boys headed out for the third lap, but with the course so chewed up and the radiator problems continuing, Matt limped the truck back to the pit and called it a day.
Lovell will prepare for the BITD Silverstate 300. Murray Racing and Matt Lovell Racing will be busy over the next several weeks prepping their Lazer Star Lights equipped rigs and testing for the next desert race on the calendar: the BITD Silverstate 300, scheduled for May 2-4. Lazer Star Lights' Team NEO Wins Class, 6th Overall at John Burr 6-Hour
Lazer Star Lights sponsored Team NEO set out to Glen Helen Raceway this past Sunday for the John Burr 6-hour Endurance Race. Riders Gordon Ward, Jerry Black and Jim LaTendresse would attempt to defend their 2013 Championship aboard their NEO Oil/Yoshimura/JBC/IMS/Lazer Star Honda 450X. Gordon Ward took the first leg before handing off to Jerry Black.Gordon Ward piloted the first leg of the race and lined up in the third row of bikes, and as the green flag flew Gordon took off to chase down the 20+ riders already ahead. By the end of the first lap Ward had sliced his way through the field into 3rd place. After two more laps Gordon brought it into the pit and handed the bike off to Jerry Black. Team NEO manager Paul Baker (left) and riders Jerry Black (center) and Gordon Ward (right) ready to take on the John Burr 6-Hour at Glen Helen. Jerry came in from the first lap a little later than expected and later explained that he got lost due to some missing ribbons on the back end of the course. Black picked up the pace and made up some time on his next lap before passing it to Jim LaTendresse. Jerry Black takes over and the Team NEO Honda gets a refill. Jim took off and rode hard despite possibly fracturing his shoulder after clipping a tree on a turn. The fast laps kept the team out front until it was once again time for Ward to take the helm. Ward closed out the race and took the 40+ Expert class checkers for Team NEO. Though the battle between 1st and 2nd place was a close one, Gordon managed to pull away for the win by more than a minute. As the checkered flag flew Gordon, Black and LaTendresse claimed the 40+ Expert Class victory and finished 6th Overall out of more than 60 teams.

Murray Racing Wins Inaugural SCORE Imperial Valley 250!
Derek Murray, sponsored driver of Lazer Star Lights, drove his Can-Am Maverick right into the winners circle at the Score Imperial Valley 250. Coming off of a second place finish from the 28th annual San Felipe 250, Murray Motorsports had their sights set high for this inaugural race in the California desert. As many racers plan ahead of time to attend such a race, the Murray brothers made a last-minute decision to head down to Southern California and put some tires to dirt.
Without the luxury of a pre-run, Derek and crew were practically flying blind through this treacherous race course. As if this hadnt made things difficult enough, they began the race at the back of the pack and fought their way to the front for a well earned first place podium bottle of champagne. Team Murray will be celebrating their efforts and win on their way to Nevada to compete in the BITD Silver State 300.

Lazer Star Lights Takes on the Silver State 300
Last weekend, the Lazer Star Lights crew packed up and headed out to the Best in the Desert Silver State 300. Alongside them were three of their sponsored drivers, Murray Racing, Bryan Buckhannon and Matt Lovell Racing. Each team has been moving from race to race, proving their dedication and love of the sport along the way. Murray Racing Prior to this race, the Murray Racing team made a last minute decision to race the Imperial Valley 250. This choice was made knowing that they would be unable to pre-run the course, which would cause many competitors to skip the grueling race. However, Derek and Jason took their Can-Am Maverick by the wheel and showed that dirt who was boss. Through the dust and carnage of the race, the brothers navigated themselves all the way to the front line from the back of the pack, pulling out a first place finish. Murray Racing headed to Silver State fresh off a win at the Imperial Valley 250. With the stamina from the previous race behind them, the Murray Racing team charged hard into the SS 300. Derek and co-driver Steve Amarine were running strong in second place for their first 180 miles when they came upon a downed biker. As every good racer would, they stopped to help a racer in need. This act of kindness would drop them back to third place and it was back on the throttle. Soon, they began experiencing electrical issues which caused them to stall and fall back into the group. Though Team Murray's Best in the Desert campaign has been met with challenges, they are currently tied for 1st in the SCORE UTV ranks. This race, as many desert races tend to be, was incredibly dusty which made it hard for drivers to see their way around. Their UTV was equipped with Lazer Star lower running lights and they were a necessity in order to cut some of the dust and allow them to drive a bit faster seeing through dirty haze. Some more complications arose when a tire went flat, and some unsettled dust may have gotten the best of them when a rock was hit and caused them to bend a rim. Like walking on a broken leg, this rim caused some complications with their suspension which led to them limping to a pit for some mechanical assistance. This cost them time and a few more positions. Although Murray Racing did not cross the line in the first place that they had been hoping for, they finished the race and now have a fire burning inside of them to tear it up at their next race, the Baja 500. Bryan Buckhannon Multi-time GNCC utility ATV champion Bryan Buckhannon recently began his foray into the world of UTV racing, and after jumping into the BITD scene at the Mint 400 earlier this year packed up the Can-Am Maverick and headed out to the Silver State 300. Buckhannon is a seriously talented racer, no matter what the vehicle, but unfortunately his day was cut short when his CV joint succumbed to rock damage. Buckhannon and his crew will prepare for the BITD Vegas to Reno race to earn more precious BITD points.
Bryan Buckhannon brings his years of professional ATV success to the BITD world. Matt Lovell Racing Matt Lovell and his team have been working hard toward making their name one to be known. Not only have they been attending races, but behind the scenes they have been building a new truck. Although it isnt quite finished yet, word is that the suspension is in and the motor is currently being built. The Lazer Star Lights / Matt Lovell Racing #7244 truck before the Silver State 300. At the start of the race, Matt and his co-driver held a tenth place position. After a short 50 miles, they had already passed five of their competitors and made it up to fifth place. Lovell noted that he had been driving this race much faster than past courses. Things had been looking up as he sped his way up to elevations of 7500 feet. Along this 3500 foot climb, the truck and driver experienced what an exotic course it was as they drove through the mountains and passed through several water crossings. Matt Lovell's truck takes flight on the Silver State course. An unfortunate obstacle had drivers spinning their wheels, trying to get free from the grips of a nasty silt bed. Many could not get free and required assistance from BITD tow vehicles to release them from their sandy frustrations. This cost the MLR team an hour before they were back on course. After all that the dirty desert served them, the Matt Lovell Racing team crossed the line with a seventh in their class. Despite some setbacks along the way, Lovell and crew managed to put in a 7th place class finish. Toward the end of May, the team will be heading south of the border to do some pre-running of their next challenge, the SCORE Baja 500. Matt Lovell will be continuing work on the new truck and strategizing new tactics to get that top podium spot. Both Lazer Star Lights sponsored teams have been putting down the man hours and taking on these dangerous races with a passion for adrenaline in their eyes. Make sure your glasses and goggles are dust free in order to see their rigs passing by at the next race! Suzi got her start with Lazer Star soon after her parents, Pat and Betty Scott, opened its doors in 1993. Fresh out of school, Suzi spent some time in the shop doing some assembly work on the original Bullet Lights for automotive and motorcycles. The summer job was just that as Suzi decided to spend some time away from the family business.

After spending a few years in Colorado and Hawaii (snowboarding and surfing, if you couldnt guess), Suzi returned to Lazer Star in spring of 1998 to head up sales and marketing for the V-Twin segment. She spent a lot of time on the road representing the brand at shows, events and dealerships nationwide. By 2003 her role had evolved to include inside sales/distribution and marketing, and as the company dove into LED technology she spearheaded the effort to put Lazer Star Lights in the off-road automotive marketplace.

Growing up in the Scott family meant weekends out at Glamis and Dumont riding dirt bikes and dune buggies. In addition to her role with Lazer Star, Suzi has two daughters that also enjoy riding dirt bikes. In a family full of Honda riders, Suzi is the blue sheep on her Yamaha YZ250R. Riding and racing is in her blood, and as a result youll rarely see the Lazer Star rig at an off-road event without seeing Suzi there with a smile on her face. Team MLR / Lazer Star Lights #7244 Finishes at Vegas to Reno
Team Lazer Star Lights / MLR charged hard for the finish line at Vegas to Reno and snags a 4th place win.
In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Vegas to Reno, Best in the Desert decided to put drivers to the ultimate test. Dubbing it "The Longest Race", this 2-day event brought many racers to their proverbial knees with miles of silt bed, pit to pit trailering, and a sleepover in Tonapah; this was a tough one to finish indeed. Racers and their crew had to be focused and prepared to battle, and MLR was ready. With a crew of over 20 volunteers, logistics were tricky and everyone needed to know their place when things got crazy in the pits. After the Mint 400, they learned anything could and would go wrong.
Despite the odds, #7244 had smooth sailing again this year. V2R of 2015 saw nothing but fuel stops the entire race, and this year was almost as pain free, with only 2 tire changes on top of the fuel stops. Naturally, the story from the course was not nearly as simple. Within the first 50 miles, a gnarly silt bed took out a slew of teams from Trophy Trucks to UTV's. The relentless silt made it nearly impossible to see other racers or wrecks ahead of you, let alone the 10 foot ravine (2 in a row in case you thought you could jump it) which brutally took out several teams. All this of course was before Pit 1, when the crew came to learn at the last minute that they would need to haul ass with the trailer, since a helicopter (not race related) had gone down and the course had to be closed. The crew raced their truck to Pit 1 for the pick up and tow to re-start at Pit 2. It looked like it was going to be a very long 2-days.
Without further incidence, the MLR crew raced to Tonapah for the overnight campout.
Day 2 brought an interesting start, as the cars lined up in the order in which they finished Day 1. This made it a smorgasbord of vehicle classes taking off one after the other; a little hairy for those UTV's starting right in front of a Trophy Truck! Another day full of DNF's in the silt bed, but more smooth sailing for the #7244 truck. Matt pulled into the finish line before dark with a possible 3rd or 4th place finish. After adjusted times, Team Lazer Star Lights / MLR #7244 took 4th place home.
Matt would like to thank his co-drivers Rob Nelson and Brett Maister, along with his crew and newly wed wife Jessie for helping make this race a success. None of this would be possible with out the sponsors: Raceline Wheels, Falken Tire, Ruff Stuff, Airaid, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Synthetics, and 212 Gloves.
Corry Weller takes Championship at TORC and Vegas to Reno Recap
Corry Weller and her YXZ
Corry Weller, 2016 UTV TORC Champion and recent finisher at the grueling Best in the Desert, Vegas to Reno race, this kick ass driver has been getting it done, and doing it in style with her Yamaha YZX1000R.
Just 2 short weeks ago Weller and her crew were celebrating in the Nevada desert after completing with a 7th place finish at her inaugural Best in the Desert race debuting the YXZ1000R and all it has to offer the Off Road Race scene. Even with her busy short-course season, she knew the YXZ would kick ass in the desert, and was out to prove it. Keeping the unit close as possible to stock while only adding basic requirements from BITD and some necessary must-haves when racing in the desert, she set out as solo driver on a 2-day mission to prove her skills and YXZ against all odds. Day 1 was a success, she started in 27th so they knew they had a huge battle ahead, but even without power steering the YXZ raced from pit to pit with short fuel stops. The dreaded silt beds were the biggest contender throughout race day 1. Day 2 started with excitement as they learned she had moved up to 12th starting position in class, so she set her mind to battle harder and race faster. With the mixed class start, she got bumped and battered by much larger trophy trucks and other classes, good thing for the sturdy rear bumper on the tough YXZ! All else went great and day 2 proved to be a fun course of exciting mixed terrain putting skills and machinery to good use. The 1-truck chase crew got girl and machine through 644 miles of the Nevada desert and crossed the finish showing 6th, but took 7th in class after adjusted times.
Corry states, “We started in the back of a large and ultra-competitive field, with a YXZ that had a bone stock motor and factory suspension and chassis, that had zero time on it as a new build, in a class full of UTVs that are rebuilt from the ground up. To finish this race is a huge achievement, but to finish where we did is awesome! 7th out of 34 in the Pro Production class, 12th overall out of 70 UTVs total, and 65th overall out of all the truck/car/UTV class entries!”
Labor Day weekend Corry, Team Weller and her short-course YXZ1000R headed back east for the final round of the TORC series. Short course racing is nothing new to Weller and this debut of the TORC Pro Stock UTV Class was a perfect fit for her training, skills and machinery. “As a West Coast racer, it is a great feeling to drive nearly across the country to race the Midwest series and bring home a championship for Yamaha and the YXZ1000R,” Weller said. “We’re not just winning races, but we’re already breaking records in the YXZ’s first year of racing’”. She definitely proved herself and her YXZ as serious contenders in the future for this series, as she proudly is the first and only racer at TORC to podium in the Pro Stock UTV class at every event, and the first female to ever win a TORC Championship of any class.
“This is the first of what we expect to be many national championships for both Corry and the YXZ1000R,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha ATV and SxS group marketing manager. “Leading the Stock UTV class takes the combination of a skilled and experienced driver like Corry, and a truly race-ready and reliable factory vehicle like the YXZ1000R.”
Lazer Star Lights is proud to be part of the Weller Racing team and can’t wait to see what she does throughout the remainder of 2016!!
Derek West Fights to the Finish at 2017 King of the Hammers
2017 King of the Hammers.
Top Racers from around the globe come to Johnson Valley, California every February to compete in the hardest one day off road endurance race in the world! This year there were 122 racers in the 4400 class and only 50 finished the race.
February 2-10, 2017....Derek West and team # 20 left for Johnson Valley, California on Thursday Feb. 2nd after months of preparation for the opening race of the 2017 season, which is also the biggest race of the every season. The week was full of media, photo shoots & prepping for qualifying. Derek qualified on Tuesday Feb. 7th during "Power Hour" taking a great starting position of 19th overall out of 122 racers.
Friday Feb. 10 "Race Day"...Derek and his team had everything in tip-top shape ready to start the race after qualifying earlier in the week. Early Friday morning the #20 car took the green flag and was off to a great start catching other cars until a large boulder appeared out of the dust and damaged some crucial components. A quick stop at pit 1 and they were off again chasing dust trails. An alternator belt came off and the team did not notice it until the battery had been drained to a critically low point. Arthur Richtmyre (co-driver) hopped out and began replacing the belt. Once things were back in order the battery was too drained to start the car, during this process Mel Wade, one of Derek's competitors stopped and give him their jump pack. Art and Derek tried this but the car still would not start. Quickly, Derek cut the battery cables that feed his winch with a plan to use them as jumper cables. Derek stood on the hood of his car and waited for the next competitor to come by and signal them for help. That next person was Jeremy Hammer, a fellow Nitto Tire teamate. He stopped and was successful in getting the car going again!
Things were now going as good as they could for being at the back of the pack. Again, Derek began passing cars again in the rock trails until a rock took out the rear slip yoke on the drive-line. Derek knew he had no choice but to quickly hike to pit 2a, which was 4 miles away through the mountains. He quickly got to the pit and then back to the car with the needed part. From there Derek drove at a conservative pace in order to finish the race and gain series points. They had no more issues and completed the race in 49th place at 9:30 pm just 30 minutes before the time cap. Derek & Art endured a long, hard day in the race car with an ending time of 13 hours & 18 minutes. The team showed their racing perseverance and hard work pays off! Derek and team 20 are looking forward to an amazing season!

Murray Racing finishes strong at 2017 Mint 400 with 2nd place podium finish
Murray Racing Finishes Strong with 2nd Place at 2017 Mint 400
The 2017 Mint 400 is in the books.
Best in the Desert Pro Turbo Team #917 Murray Racing just picked up the 2nd place trophy at awards ceremony Sunday.
It was an early start as Jason Murray takes the car off the line in 9th position at 6am Saturday morning. He immediately started picking up spots through the first lap. After the first lap out of main pit Murrays were up to 2nd physically going into the 2nd of 3 laps. “We had a clean run up until we lost brakes 1/2 way through the 2nd lap, says Derek. We held position up until we had a rookie mistake and our pits did not fill enough fuel and at mile 83 the car died. We were running out of fuel. All I could think about was all the time, effort and results of the past months were out the window. We had to think fast so I flipped fuel pumps and managed to swerve the car back and forth for several miles running 5 to 10 mph. We could see the pits in the distance but it was still miles away and the car kept dying. We limped along until we finally made it to the bottom of the lakebed at about mile 92, it the slowest 10 miles in our racing career.”
As the car came to a dead stop every last drop of fuel gone, Derek was hitting the steering wheel in pure frustration; he knew the day was over. Then, out of nowhere, a BITD official who was working this section of the course walks over and asks what's wrong? They told him they ran out of fuel; they needed a tow off the course. The BITD official said, like some kind of Mint 400 Angel “it's your lucky day, I have 3 gallons!” It takes several more minutes to get the meager 3 gallons in the car. The X3 fired up and they were off but still needed to go nearly 25 more miles. After only 13 miles the car started to sputter. Good thing they were headed down hill and able to coast down into an alternate pit where 5 gallons of fuel were bummed. With over 20 min of delays we knew our hopes of 1st were out the window but now 2nd could also be lost. Amazingly as the team pulled back into the race they still managed to be in 2nd!
Pulling into Main Pit after the long stressful 2nd lap, the car was looked over; brakes slightly fixed and with a quick driver change Jason took off for the last lap. He pushed the X3 hard for the last 116 miles with no issues and brought it in for a respectable 2nd place and 2nd overall out of 110 UTV’s. “This is the 47th consecutive BITD finish and we have finished the Mint in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in the last 6 years of racing the Mint 400” Said Murray.
They want to thank the crew and sponsors for all the support.
